WHAT: Cypress String Quartet & Friends
Mill Valley Chamber Music Society opens its 2015 Marin Chamber Performance season presenting the Cypress String Quartet.
This San Francisco-based quartet, established in 1996, has performed nationally and internationally for nearly 20 years and has been praised for its “artistry of uncommon insight and cohesion,” (Gramophone) and “tender, deeply expressive” interpretations (NYTimes). The Cypress Quartet has recorded over 15 albums with its recordings broadcast regularly on hundreds of radio stations throughout the world. Cypress String Quartet music has been featured in the original Netflix series “House of Cards.”
Cypress String Quartet members Cecily Ward and Tom Stone, violin; Ethan Filner, viola; Jennifer Kloetzel, cello are joined by James Dunham, viola and Jean-Michel Fonteneau, cello for this Oct. 11 concert featuring Brahms, Glazunov and Schoenberg.
PROGRAM: Brahms: Sextet No. 1 in Bb, Op. 18; Glazunov: Noveletten; and Schoenberg: “Verklaerte Nacht.”
