Artist Reception January 12, 1-3pm; On display Friday, January 11 through Saturday, February 16, 2019
The Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton announces that it will host for the 4th time the important California Watercolor Association Annual National Exhibition. With 74 artists accepted, the 49th CWA annual juried exhibit is on display from Friday, January 11 through Saturday, February 16, 2019. Although CWA is a California-based organization, this is a national juried show, with artists participating from across the US, notably from Florida, Ohio, and Maryland, as well as international entries from as far away as Taiwan.
25 various awards consisting of cash and prizes will be presented at the opening Artists' Reception (see details below). The selection juror this year was Iain Stewart and the awards juror was Karen Frey, both nationally recognized artists and Signature Members of American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society.
RECEPTION: The public is invited to the free opening Artists' Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 12, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the gallery Light refreshments will be served. Guests are welcome to come explore the exhibit, and ask questions and chat with the artists.
PAINTING DEMONSTRATIONS: On certain Wednesdays from 1:00-3:30pm, various member artists will present free watercolor demonstrations at the gallery. See website for details.
YOUNG @ ART: A special class connected to the exhibit for young people ages 5-11. "Water+Color=Fun!" Thursday, February 7, from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Participants will have a guided exploration of the exhibit, then create their own work of art in the studio workshop upstairs! Register at
