Cut and Paste: A Collage Exhibition

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Cut And Paste examines contemporary collage from a diversity of artists with unique techniques and subject matter. The resulting works of colorful art cover the gamut of figurative, surreal, and abstract.

Participants:

David Ball
David Ball is a mixed media artist based in San Francisco. His work employs layers of collage, acrylic, and colored pencil in unexpected ways to create otherworldly scenes of his imagining. He also teaches illustration at the Academy of Art University.

John Vochatzer
John Vochatzer is a collage-based mixed media artist from San Francisco. His corporeal, often macabre visions extend beyond fine art into album design, street art and tattooing. He pulls from a wide variety of source material with a strong focus on human anatomy and natural history. His inspirations range from Hieronymus Bosch to 20th century surrealism and Ren & Stimpy.

Bill Zindel
Bill Zindel is an independent artist, illustrator, and designer who creates collages that are structured yet unrestrained, employing bold colors and patterns with geometric leanings and retro-futuristic tendencies. He draws inspiration from typography, signage, old records, and sacred geometry. His work as a designer informs his art formally, but his love of cutting, pasting, and collecting goes back to childhood. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Bill lives in El Cerrito CA.

Maureen Shields
Maureen Shields creates mixed media works on wood that combine paint, collage, handmade stickers, gold leaf, and glitter. Her printed matter and source material range from vintage LIFE magazines from the 1950s to vintage Playboy magazines from the 1970s and 80s. Born and raised in Southern California, she earned a BFA in Drawing and Painting from California State University Long Beach and a MFA from New York University. She lives and works in San Francisco.

Jamie Pavlich Walker
Jamie Pavlich Walker is a collage artist living and working in Sonoma County. Coming from a background in drawing and painting, experimentation with new mediums, styles, and techniques led to the discovery of torn paper collage, and her unique creation of paintings using found paper from recycled magazines, maps, labels, and newspapers.
