Creating Pigments from Plants with Judi Pettite

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Have you ever wondered how a pigment is formed from a liquid dye? Ever wonder what the difference is between an extract and a pigment? In this class we'll investigate the lake making process to generate our own water insoluble colorant from plant dyes and even a few mineral pigments. From there, we'll try our hand at making watercolors using a muller and slab, and sample the endless variation of hues possible from plant and mineral colors.
