Craig Marker is home from college for the summer and instead of doing what most college kids do-i.e., smoke weed on his parents' couch and bitch about not being back at their four-year bacchanale-he's playing some good ol' fashioned folk tunes. Marker keeps it simple with just an acoustic guitar, occasional harmonica and a strong voice. His songs are easy, heartfelt and have a nice storytelling vibe like some of Bob Dylan's less political songs. Lyrically, he avoids a lot of the pitfalls of many other young songwriters: being fucking boring. (Stephen Layton)
