Cradle Duende and Safiya are two Bay Area born world fusion bands, and they are excited to come together to share the Red Poppy stage! Music for both listening and dancing.
Cradle Duende presents a combination of Klezmer and Flamenco “klezmenco” with an infusion of reggae-cumbia and balkan melodies and dance rhythms. Cradle Duende takes its name from the Spanish word “duende”, in reference to a musically heightened state of emotion, expression, and authenticity; and a merging of disparate musical traditions that each evolved from independent cradles of civilization. Cradle Duende brings the strength of deep cultural roots into the party atmosphere. Safiya is a world music band heavily influenced by Mediterranean, Balkan, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Rom, Japanese, Latin American, Blues, Funk and Surf music. The band experiments blending these different styles, in a way that captures a brand new sound while keeping the essence of each culture. The music is energetic and danceable and at the same time very raw and soulful.
