Courting the Classics

SEE EVENT DETAILS
On February 21st, the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra will present music by beloved 18th Century composers Haydn, Mozart, and Mendelssohn. The program includes Haydn's "London" Symphony, No. 104, which encapsulates the sprit of the time, combining courtly elegance with innovative dramatic effects. Also on the program are the vibrant and often-overlooked Three Marches by Mozart, and Mendelssohn's evocative The Beautiful Melusine.

"This program is a journey through the heart of the orchestral repertoire," says Artistic Director Geoffrey Gallegos. "From the regal energy of Mozart to the sweeping scales of Mendelssohn and the triumphant symphony of Haydn, there is something in this program for every listener to fall in love with."

Formed in the late 1970's, the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra is comprised of passionate volunteer musicians ranging in age from teens through octogenarians. Among them are a scientist, lawyer, x-ray technician, engineer, plumber, CPA, physicist, and a graphic designer, as well as sales representatives, business owners, students, homemakers, teachers, and artists.

The orchestra's mission is to encourage multigenerational avocational musicians' opportunities towards lifelong learning, collaboration and enjoyment, while providing high-caliber, affordable entertainment, and enrichment to their communities.

$25 General Admission, $20 Seniors (62+), and $10 Students.
