Contra Costa College Drama Department Brings the Popular Musical, “Godspell”, To San Pablo

The Drama Department at Contra Costa College presents its spring musical, “Godspell” (credits: original music by Stephen Schwartz, original book by John-Michael Tebelak), directed by Contra Costa College’s Kathryn G. McCarty.
Godspell profiles a small group of people as they tell different Bible parables through the use of a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus Christ’s life dances across the stage. The message: kindness, tolerance and love must be part of everyday life.
The cast features Xavier Johnson (Vallejo), Umi Grant (Oakland), Kamaria McKinney (El Sobrante), Irena Miles (El Sobrante), Ashley Watts (Concord) Elizabeth A. Martinie (Concord), Johnson Nguyen (Richmond), Jasmine Manahan (Pinole) and Rachel Garza (Richmond).
