Please join the City and County of San Francisco as we officially kick off the Geary Rapid Project and celebrate connecting communities through this major civic improvement project.
The celebration will take place in the Japantown Peace Plaza on Geary Boulevard between Webster and Laguna streets. This location is near where a new crosswalk and median refuge is planned, which will also feature decorative panels inspired by the Fillmore, St. Francis Square and Japantown neighborhoods.
The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a performance by students from Rosa Parks Elementary School, followed by remarks from City officials and community leaders, and then together we will mark the official start of construction on this critical project that aims to revitalize one of San Francisco’s busiest corridors with safer streets and more reliable bus service.
(In case of rain, the celebration will be held in the mall, west of the Peace Plaza.)
Click the "Register" button to RSVP. Please RSVP by February 11.
The event is accessible by Muni, including the 38/38R, 2 and 3 bus lines. This is an outdoor event, so please dress accordingly. Some seating will be available, with priority for people with limited mobility. The Peace Plaza and indoor spaces are accessible with ramps on both sides (Post Street and Geary Boulevard).
