The second installment of our Shenson Faculty Concert Series, CMC piano faculty member Jon Jang presents: Come Sunday:The Music of Duke Ellington in Celebration of his 120th Birthday, featuring the works of Duke Ellington. Because the title “Come Sunday” refers to a recording by Duke Ellington and the "Queen of Gospel" Mahalia Jackson celebrating African American people’s struggle to have their own church, the program will also feature songs that Mahalia Jackson sang in the context of the black church.
