CO-LLAB CHOIR

at SFJAZZ Center - SF Jazz (7pm & 8:30pm)
Led by keyboardist, vocalist, arranger, and Oakland School for the Arts co-founder Cava Menzies, the 24-member CO-LLAB Choir is a remarkable contemporary vocal ensemble dedicated to developing new works with a wide array of visionary composers and co-arranging and co-composing music specifically by members of the group.

Former director of OSA and daughter of jazz trumpet legend Eddie Henderson, Menzies is a 2014 National Artist Teaching Fellow whose work has been featured in performances by Daveed Diggs, Coldplay, Dave Grohl, and Kehlani. She founded CO-LLAB Choir to create new opportunities for singers and songwriters to experience writing for multi-part for choral ensemble and highlight our local community of world-class artists. In her rds, "Our purpose as an ensemble is to express healing, love and unity through sound."

The group's recent collaborations include work with former SFJAZZ Collective vocalist Martin Luther McCoy and pianist and composer Kev Choice.

Established with a vision to harmonize diverse voices and talents, CO-LLAB transcends traditional boundaries, creating a dynamic and inclusive musical experience that epitomizes the power of collaboration in choral music. They represent the transformative potential of collective voices, weaving a melodic tapestry that celebrates the beauty of harmony.
