Please join us for the Premiere of “Manilatown Suite” the latest concert by the I-Hotel’s house jazz ensemble, “The Autonomous Region”.





Funded by both the California Arts Council and the San Francisco Arts Commission, “Manilatown Suite” is the story of Historic Manilatown and the International Hotel Eviction as told through a fusion of jazz, traditional Philippine tribal music of the Maguindanao, Maranao, Kalinga and T’Boli cultures. dance, martial arts and spoken word.





Joining Vocalist and Philippine Percussionist Caroline Cabading will be the Autonomous Musicians Raymond Bambao, Chris Planas and Harold Ohashi with special Guest Musicans/Dancers Jibril Alvarez, Frank Holder, Patrick Tamayo, Daniel Giray, Manuel Dragon and Marcella Pabros-Clark.





This evening's musical presentation will be followed by a special “Conversations with Mr. Z: Coming Back Home to the I-Hotel“. As our first celebration of several former tenant activists returning to live at the current International Hotel Senior Residences, Carlos Zialcita will host a community talk story with returning tenants Norman Jayo, Oscar Penaranda and Annie Panlibutan. Also joining the panel will be Manilatown Heritage Foundation Board Member Carmen Monteclaro Choy, who grew up with Annie in Manilatown.
