Joshua Margolis grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York, where he was first exposed to ceramics. At a summer arts program for teens at Skidmore College, Joshua finally found something he felt he was good at. After high school, Joshua pursued his love for ceramics at Buffalo State College and at the University of Tampa. After three years of unbearable Florida heat, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he instantly adapted to the foggy summers and micro-climates.
Over the last eight years he has taught ceramics to children and adults at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. In July 2014 Joshua had the honor of being the artist in residence at the de Young Fine Art Museum. While at the museum Joshua worked in front of and with the public on completing his Monsters and Robots Project. Joshua is also a member of FM Oakland Studios, where he shows his work the first Friday of every month and on every Saturday afternoon.
