Claudia Nygaard

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Campbell United Church of Christ (see times)
Description
A former Nashville Music Row staff songwriter, and an entertainer who has performed at over 150 fairs and festivals, Claudia Nygaard has not only learned how to write a song, she knows how to deliver it. She is a born storyteller with a quick wit and a fearless emotional availability, and her affable connection with an audience has led reviewers to describe her as “Will Rogers without the Rope”. In addition to festivals, it has made her a popular performer at house concerts across the country, and earned her the coveted “Emerging Artist” award at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Claudia Nygaard’s long legs hang over both sides of that same fence between country and folk music that Guy Clark and John Prine have straddled. Her sound is acoustic, and while her songs find their roots and rhythms in the Americana storytelling tradition, the melodies are passionate and emotional and the lyrics are vivid and descriptive.

Claudia’s voice is a sensual alto, praised for its “power and resonance” by Nashville music critic Robert K. Oermann of Music Row Magazine, and for its “full-texture” by Gene Harbrecht of the Orange County Register in California. She is also a strong rhythm guitarist with endorsements from Tacoma Guitars, Intellitouch Tuners, and D’Aquisto Strings. A winner of numerous songwriting awards including the Kerrville Folk Festival “New Folk” Songwriting Competition, Claudia crafts songs with vivid imagery, and an authentic point of view.

“Claudia was a smash hit with our audience. Her songs, her stories, her charming wit, and her engaging personality combined to provide all of us with a wonderful evening of entertainment.” Kelson Slayman of “Folk at the Cannery” House Concerts on Dataw Island, SC
