Circle Jerks with TSOL and Negative Approach
The canonization of the Circle Jerks into the So Cal Punk Rock Hall of Fame has been incontestable since 1980 when they become one of the key suburban skate-punk bands to emerge from the South Bay area of LA. In the wake of anti-surfer rebels Black Flag, the Circle Jerks were the cheery antidotal counterpoint to Flag's full tilt young white male rage. Both bands were right there at the dawn of the American Hardcore punk movement, but while Flag was busy with their menacing dark metal vibe, the Jerks were a dollop of fun live, lighter on the politics, and heavier on the super-adrenalized downstroke guitars and drums, and no rock 'n' roll band ever rocked harder or tighter than the Jerks on a good night. The current line-up features original co-founders Keith Morris and guitarist Greg Hetson with Zander Schloss (a Jerk since 1984) and new drummer Kevin Fitzgerald.
