Chris Minh Doky's Nomads

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at The Addition - CLOSED (see times)
Chris Minh Doky's Nomads with Dave Weckl, George Whitty and Dean Brown will be on tour January 12-21, 2015. Their latest creation (a live recording!) called “The Board Tapes,” was released in Europe earlier this year debuting at #1 on iTunes Jazz in several EU countries. It will be released in the US digitally prior to their US January dates. Michael Bloom Media Relations will be on board promoting both the recording and the tour dates. We are expecting Markbass and Yamaha to also be involved with promotion. As a prominent and knighted Dane, Chris will spread the word about the tour to Danish communities (companies, embassies, consulates etc.) in the US.

The Nomads recently completed a very successful European tour with most dates selling out and standing room only crowds. BT.dk describes the Nomads live performance as "Crisp and Cool Jazz Funk" and goes on to say "Many band have a hard time living up to their studio sound on stage. But that problem, the Danish bassist and composer Chris Minh Doky and his cool international band The Nomads, certainly not. And on their first live album they have successfully captured both the magic and the dynamic craft. The Nomads ...are...so tight and melodious ..."

Last autumn, Doky conducted a 14 piece orchestra in a tribute to Frank Sinatra, 'Come Fly Away,' a collaboration with Twyla Tharp, internationally celebrated choreographer, and the Danish Royal Ballet. The performances enjoyed a 6 week sold out run.

The Nomads include Dean Brown/guitar, who with his unique sound and stage performance with the likes of Marcus Miller, Boz Scaggs and the Brecker Brothers has distinguished himself as one of the most funky guitarists today, George Whitty/keyboards shows why he is a Grammy winnng producer and musician with albums such as the many and amazing Michael Brecker releases, and the phenomenal award winning internationally known drummer, Dave Weckl.

Chris Minh Doky endorses Yamaha as does Dave Weckl, each with their own signature Yamaha instrument. George Whitty makes the Nomads a practically unanimous Yamaha band of endorsees.
