This series of workshops is in partnership with San Francisco’s iconic Grace Cathedral and in conjunction with YBCA’s upcoming Fall 2018 presentation of REQUIEM MASS: A QUEER DIVINE RITE.
The Requiem Mass workshops are an opportunity for singers of all abilities to create choral music together, but the primary focus will be the experience of singing itself, particularly around issues of mourning and longing.
Waller will share his own perspective on the innate ability of groups to self-direct, listen and create complex and beautiful choral music as a channel for shared experience and collective catharsis, inviting engagement in conversation and reflection on the role of choral music in community ceremony and ritual. All participants will be highly encouraged to participate in the San Francisco premiere of Requiem Mass: A Queer Divine Rite on November 16-17, 2018 at Grace Cathedral as part of YBCA’s Performing Arts season.
