The San Francisco City Chorus, under the direction of Larry Marietta, is pleased to present two exceptional and moving works of choral art: the Requiems of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Camille Saint-Saëns. Although both are settings of the traditional Latin Mass for the dead, they provide a study in contrasts—between the two and within each piece—spanning the emotional gamut from despair to exultation.
Join us to experience firsthand the grandeur and theatricality of the beloved Mozart work as well as the intensely personal and plangent tone of Saint-Saëns’s farewell to a friend and benefactor.
The works will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra, along with organist John R.S. Walko.
Soloists:
Marta Johansen, soprano
Twila Ehmcke, mezzo-soprano
Arie Perry, tenor
Igor Vieira, baritone
Tickets: $20 for adults; $15 for seniors/college students. Free admission for children up through 12th grade.
