Chinatown's Secret Past and Local Snacks Walking Tour

SEE EVENT DETAILS
-- First two stops on the tour are a local bakery and a local dim sum hole in the wall, with a milk tea stop later on. Food purchases are optional and generally total $5 to $10. Businesses do not cater to allergies. --
We take you to explore through the streets and alleys of Chinatown and explain the fascinating culture, history, and social movements that shaped this community.
This tour delves into the ugly past covering the opium dens, the forced sex slaves, the tong wars, and the brutal crackdown on Chinese immigration. We will also explore the modern day China Town, its shops, foods, temples, and hidden alleyways. See unique views of the city, try delicious Chinese treats, and be immersed in a culture so intertwined in San Francisco’s Chinatown history that you just can’t miss it!!
The tour is an easy and efficient way of getting around and seeing a lot without worry about getting lost, and you don't have to spend a lot of time reading about the history of every place beforehand. The tours usually take 2 to 2.5 hours, then you can head out on your own to poke around in the alleys, do a tea tasting, look around in the shops, and have a leisurely lunch. Most of all, have fun!
