Chicago: The Tribute

SEE EVENT DETAILS
January 11 & 12, 8pm

Chicago: The Tribute is 8 stellar professional musicians on one stage, recreating that great sound with powerful horns, rich vocals and a rockin' rhythm section. The show comes to the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton for two concerts: Friday and Saturday, January 11 and 12, both shows at 8:00 p.m. (note; no openers).

The set lists for the Firehouse concerts include many great anthems and favorite cuts that Chicago produced, including Saturday in the Park, Beginnings, If You Leave Me Now, Hard Habit to Break, You're the Inspiration, Hard to Say I'm Sorry, and more.

To be a great tribute band, the group has to first be a great band, period. And Chicago: The Tribute has it nailed, with a line-up of players, each excellent in their own right, and all of whom have performed together for a number of years. Chicago: The Tribute is Frank Rios (vocals, percussion); Matt Hevesh (guitar, background vocals); Gordon Groft (keyboard, background vocals); Mark Marsh (bass, background vocals); Joe Gotch (woodwinds); Andy Delao (trombone); Dave Metzker (trumpet); Greg Burch (drums).

When asked about playing Chicago's songs, woodwind player Joe Gotch says: "They are a horn-player's dream - the perfect combination of jazz, soul and rock, with great lines."

The inspiration: Chicago's incredible output and back catalog encompasses 23 gold, 18 platinum and 8 multi-platinum albums, just to hit the high notes. Known for their incredible energy and musicality, Chicago did so much more than just 'add a touch of brass to rock 'n' roll.' They fused rock, jazz, funk and soul into a sound all their own.
