Chelsea Coleman, Erin O'Dowd, Shandee Layne, and Summerland: Oklahoma Songwriters In-The-Round (($10 before/$15 day of show))

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Chelsea Coleman

Oklahoma grown singing-songwriting powerhouse, Chelsea Coleman, creates sanctuaries out of songs, wherein her audience is moved, humbled, and exalted. A courageous and vulnerable storyteller, she invites you to endure open heart surgery, skillfully mending your heartache with strands of golden thread. Each listener leaves more integrally woven in to the tapestry of humanity.

Erin O'Dowd

Erin O'Dowd is a Cosmic Americana Singer-Songwriter originally from Tulsa and now based in Nashville. Her music is an eclectic mix of Roots, Psychedelic Folk, and Classic Country. She's shared the stage with John Moreland, David Amram, Dixie Chicks producer/pedal steel player Lloyd Maines, and Kenny Rogers. Her thoughtful and emotional writing draws thoughts of Lucinda Williams and Alison Krauss, and her voice is often compared to Emmylou Harris and Loretta Lynn. Her 4 to 5 piece band weaves honky-tonkin' Tulsa Sound into a dreamscape of prairie trails, and Red Dirt Nation called her "a powerful and capable solo performer."

So far in 2018, O'Dowd's new music video premiered in American Songwriter, who front paged her new album as Best New Music. She's received scholarships to attend FAI and SERFA, and she'll be officially showcasing at BMI's Key West Songwriter's Festival in May, and touring the Southwest, California, and Colorado in June and July. Michael Canter of The Jivewired Journal says "There is genuine ache in her vocals, and perfectly timed inflections accent that melancholy. Further, she delivers it with enough passion to sell it."

O'Dowd's full length debut album, Old Town, will release May 4th on Horton Records and includes "Robin's Egg Blue," which won John Prine guitar player Jason Wilber's Searchlight Songwriting Competition. Old Town was produced by Rolling Stone acclaimed Travis Linville (lead guitarist for Hayes Carll), and showcases Grammy nominated John Fullbright on keys. Erin is represented by The Press House, Al Moss Promo, and In Concert Booking.

Shandee Layne

Shandee Layne is an Americana singer-songwriter from Cushing, Oklahoma. She began playing guitar, writing, singing, and performing with her father, Trey Allen, who was a cowboy poet. Since her father’s passing in 2016, songwriting has become more of a focus for Shandee in recent years. Her melodies and lyrics can be described as straightforward and honest, having been heavily influenced by her working cowboy upbringing. Other artists that have had a strong effect on her style in song and prose include Tom Russell, Guy Clark, Jamie Lin Wilson, Rick Reiley, and numerous other Oklahoma and Texas based songwriters. She has been honored to perform as part of The Outside Circle Show in Elko, Nevada for the past five years. A full-time school teacher, she tours and performs as often as she can, and plans to have her first album recorded and released within the next year. You can find her on Instagram @shandeelayne or email her at [email protected].

Summerland

Somewhere between the red dirt of Oklahoma and the sandy cliffs of southern California, Nadia Piotrowsky found her sound.

Cross-country moves and life-changes put music on the back burner in recent years, but she has now come into her own, giving these songs new life. While her influences range from Mary Chapin Carpenter to The Frames, Sia Furler to Johnny Cash, her sound often draws comparisons to Ingrid Michaelson and Peggy Lee--a little modern, a little old-fashioned, always earnest.

And critics are taking notice. In 2017, her new work, "Lost and Found" was given Honorable Mention by the jury of the Woody Guthrie Festival Songwriting Contest, an honor she does not take lightly. Meanwhile, Nadia credits the songs themselves for her return to the stage. "When I see the audience's reaction to a lyric I've been given, I realize this isn't about me. It's about the songs and the power of words to connect us. I decided I had an obligation to bring these songs into the world." As founder of Monday@Modella songwriter nights in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nadia has recently had the opportunity to hone her craft while establishing new mainstay in the Oklahoma songwriting community...a place she hopes to hold for years to come.
