CERT and NERT Appreciation Concert by GG Park Band

The Golden Gate Concert Band and Rotary Thank NERT -  CERT (Emergency Response Teams)
Sunday, August 5, 2018, 1 - 2:30 PM
Spreckles Temple of Music, Golden Gate Park
Free It's Its Ice Cream Sandwiches for the first 400 participants - and, Food Trucks will be behind the Band Shell
Please join us for a free concert before the band shell and under the shady trees of the Spreckles Temple of Music in front of the de Young Museum at Golden Gate Park, honoring the 1,000s of hours of voluntary service of the San Francisco Bay Area's Neighborhood and Community Emergency Response Teams.  
The concert will feature a sprinkling of San Francisco pieces led by director Dr. Robert Calonico.  He recently retired as Director of Bands at the University of California, Berkeley where his duties included directing and arranging for the 225-piece “Pride of California” Marching Band, conducting the University Wind Ensemble, and teaching applied woodwinds.
Nathan Karkoski, NERT Advisory Board Member and NERT Coordinator, and Matteo Rizzo, President of the Rotary Club of South San Francisco and Retired Jefferson Elementary District Superintendent will speak during an intermission, as well as representatives of San Francisco NERT and the San Francisco Fire Department.  Usually, a Battalion Chief of the San Francisco Fire Department joins the event.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
This is a family friendly event, no ID or minimum age requirements. 
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking at Golden Gate Park on Sundays is limited, so please arrive early or take mass transit. 
Will lunch be available? 
Immediately behind the band shell, there will be a choice of several food trucks.  
What can I bring to the event?
Feel free to bring a picnic.  NERT and CERT members, feel free to come in gear to be recognized for your service.

NERT is a free training program for individuals, neighborhood groups and community-based organizations in San Francisco.  Through this program, individuals will learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention.  The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to a personal emergency as well as act as members of a neighborhood response team. 
The Mission of CERT:
To protect family, friends, and neighbors from the effects of fires, medical emergencies, accidents, hazardous materials incidents, acts of terrorism or hazards, CERT team members offer Fire Department in its efforts to respond to and mitigate emergency incidents or unsafe conditions.
