San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim and City College of San Francisco (CCSF) will welcome United States Senator Bernie Sanders to a public celebration of the first semester of tuition-free classes at CCSF. They will be joined by local officials, teachers, staff and students to talk about how the program is opening the doors of opportunity to residents of San Francisco.
This August, CCSF became the first community college in the nation to offer free classes to all residents regardless of age, income or educational status.
Senator Sanders has helped lead the national conversation on making higher education more affordable for all students and last fall endorsed both the effort to make CCSF tuition-free as well as Prop W which provided the revenue to make this program possible.
The event is open to media and public, but space is limited. Seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be overflow space provided. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
