Catch the Spirit

SEE EVENT DETAILS
As County restrictions lift and hopes for happy holidays return, Los Altos History Museum brings back a much-loved live community event, with some sensible precautions. The program will still include gift shopping, home-baked goodies, and live music by choral group Schola Cantorum, with masks required indoors, and the music pivoting to outdoors.

Two boutiques, one in the historic J. Gilbert Smith House and one in the Museum, will offer a range of unique gift items. Visitors may tour the Craftsman-style Smith House, decorated for a 1930s Christmas, browse an exhibit of orchard art on display in the upper gallery, and enjoy refreshments on the porch and in the Museum. Caroling by members of choral group Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley will be held in the courtyard at 1:30pm.

The program is free to attend. For more information, go to losaltoshistory.org/CatchTheSpirit2021.

Los Altos History Museum began in 1977 with the opening of the J. Gilbert Smith House historic farmhouse, built in 1905. In 2001, the Los Altos History Museum opened its modern building next door, which houses the Museum's collections, permanent and changing exhibits, store and administrative offices. The Museum and its grounds are available for rent during evenings and weekends. Its collections are owned by the City of Los Altos and are managed by an independent nonprofit organization, whose staff and volunteers are responsible for all programs and operations.

The Museum is open Thursday through Sunday, from noon-4pm. Admission is free. Tours of the J. Gilbert Smith House are available during open hours subject to docent availability. The outdoor agricultural exhibit, gardens and picnic area are accessible beyond Museum hours. For more information, visit: losaltoshistory.org, email [email protected], or phone 650.948.9427 x14.
