San Francisco-based Cassandra Farrar and the The Left Brains began when a young Cassandra met Christian Mayrena to record her solo acoustic songs. At the time, Cassandra had a strong YouTube following, but Chris, with a passion for producing and growing talented young musicians wanted to take it to another level. Chris, also a talented drummer, reached out to musicians and brought in the likes of David DeMuth (guitar) and Sean Chapman (upright bass).
As the other members joined the band, they each brought their own unique and varied musical backgrounds to influence the songs in their own way. Cassandra's folk rock roots, joined with Chris' punk rock drumming, provides an energetic upbeat feel to Cassandra's country soul. Then add on David's bluesy guitar licks, and Hip Hop / Funk undertones of Sean and you're given music with a little something for everyone to enjoy.
If the music isn't enough to catch you, Cassandra's lyrics provide unique insights into the thought process, through her curious self reflections, all while incorporating her other passions such as medical science, fascination with brains and the mind alike.
