Case Hop Tally is the independent music collaboration of Mitchell Manburg and Lawrence Davis
After graduating college, Mitchell went to Alaska for the summer to work at a fish cannery. There, he misheard his job title and became known as the "Case Hop Tally." Upon his return home to Oakland, CA he had all the song material he needed to write for a debut EP. Calling on longtime friend and collaborator, Lawrence Davis, the two began to record, play out, and figure things out as they went.
Soon after, Lawrence left the Bay Area to complete a painting degree at UC Davis and reside in Grass Valley. Mitchell, meanwhile, moved to Hollywood to study guitar performance at Musician's Institute and become involved in the LA music scene. Despite the odds, the two continued to collaborate across California by sending tracks back and forth. Mitchell would often escape into the mountains gaining inspiration from acoustic finger-pickers such as John Fahey, Nick Drake, and Jose Gonzalez. He would then send guitar and vocal tracks to Lawrence to mix and fill in with percussion, piano, and synth. After two years of adjusting to this new process, the band is proud to release "Siberia." This album chronicles Mitchell and Lawrence's uniquely similar experiences of living in solitude during uncertain times. "Siberia" is an escapist work aimed to bring peace to any living in a state of unrest.
Baird & Beluga is a San Francisco Bay Area folk duo made up of singer-songwriter Michael Downing and Bay Area performer Juliana Lustenader. The two met at the infamous Hotel Utah open mic in 2014 and have since joined together to create unique harmonies over haunting folk melodies. Some of Baird & Beluga's musical influences include The Civil Wars, Noah and the Whale, and Shakey Graves. When not performing as a duo, Juliana also sings backup vocals for Michael's rock band Redwood Skyline.
