Carpool Tunnel
-from San Francisco, CA
-While their sun-soaked sound harkens back to simpler times, CARPOOL TUNNEL literally wouldn't exist without the power of modern technology. Like all great 21st-century relationships, a serendipitous swipe on an app - in this case Vampr, hailed as Tinder for musicians - brought singer/guitarist Ben Koppenjan and guitarist Bradley Kearsley together in 2017.
"The Eagles are one of our favorite bands," Koppenjan explains. "If you watch their documentary, History of the Eagles, you see the times they were living in: The world was on fire, the Vietnam War and giant political unrest were happening, and they talked about those things in an apolitical way to provide a sense of escapism for people. We take that philosophy in our writing. Music has always been there for each of us, and we want our songs to do the same for others." XX
Breakup Shoes
-from Tempe/Phoenix, AZ
-Four-piece breezy indie rock band Breakup Shoes has been making waves in the Phoenix music scene for years, opening for Soccer Mommy and Summer Salt. Their music is warm and hazy, reminiscent of bands like Lunar Vacation and Boyscott. From having one of their songs blare across the state on Arizona's alt-radio station 93.3 to releasing their first music video and recording new tracks, the Tempe-based band is moving closer toward their goal of becoming a nationally recognized group.
Carter Vail
-frm Nashville, TN
-Carter Vail is an artist whose music is at once deeply intriguing and nostalgic. His songs, bundled in bright synths, distorted guitars and a "we'll do it live" production style, are both energetic and intensely lyrically focused, bringing to mind acts like The National, The Cure & Local Natives.
