Visit Irving Street Projects for the closing reception of Carey Lin's exhibition "Nobody Said Not To".
Through her eclectic style of painting and wall drawing, Lin has built a responsive, immersive installation at ISP by culling patterns from community participants, friends, acquaintances, and her day-to-day life.
To build the installation, Lin has invited the public to bring items to be photographed and small objects to be traced for inclusion in the installation. Contributors can also share imagery on Instagram using the hashtag #nobodysaidnotto.
Throughout its run, Nobody Said Not To serves as a platform for thinking about artistic intention, hierarchies of visual culture, and in the most basic terms, why we make art. Lin’s playful, obsessive, energetic studio practice stems from a critical investigation of the creative impulse.
Attendees are invited to wear as many patterns as possible.
