Capp Street 30th Birthday Party

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art (see times)
Capp Street Project turns 30 soon and the Wattis plans to celebrate by throwing a blowout birthday party with drinks, dancing, and 30 piñatas. Mark your calendar for February 18, 2014!

Founded in San Francisco in 1983 by Ann Hatch, Capp Street Project was the first visual arts residency in the United States dedicated solely to the creation and presentation of new art installations. Since its inception, Capp Street Project has given more than 100 local, national, and international artists the opportunity to create new work through its residency and exhibition programs.

CCA alum Erica “Wanna Hang Out?” Johnson will kick off the evening with an all-vinyl set of soul 45s, big hair girl groups, proto-punk garage, and guilty-pleasure ‘80s pop. The collective Will Brown and artist and Blue Bottle pastry chef Leah Rosenberg will produce custom elements of the celebration.

Capp Street alum and local artists have been invited to design custom piñatas. Designs by Abraham Cruzvillegas, Jeremy Deller, Kota Ezawa, Jonn Herschend, Chris Johanson, Tony Labat, Tim Lee, Byron Peters
