11TH ANNUAL SANCHEZ ART CENTER 50|50 SHOW
Aug 30–Sept 22, 2019

This exciting and challenging juried show is now accepting entries on CaFE™ (CallForEntry.org).

THE PROJECT: Accepted artists will create 50 small works (6” x 6”) over the course of 50 days. Each artist chooses a theme for all 50 pieces. Creation of works by participating artists will begin June 10 and end July 29, 2019. The exhibition will run August 30 – September 22, 2019.

ELIGIBILITY: California artists age 18 and over.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: Benefits of participating include an intense creative experience; being part of a great exhibition of over 3,000 works with an estimated audience of 1,000 or more viewers; fellowship with other artists; and a spectacular opportunity to make works available for sale to people who might not be able to afford your larger pieces.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Entries must be submitted online by 11:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time.

JUROR: Catharine Clark is owner and director of Catharine Clark Gallery in the DoReMi area (comprised of adjoining neighborhoods Dogpatch, Potrero Hill, and the Mission) of San Francisco. Established in 1991, Catharine Clark Gallery exhibits the work of contemporary artists working across a wide range of media. The gallery has pioneered the presentation of new media art in San Francisco and is the first commercial gallery in the area with a dedicated media room. The gallery’s program has garnered critical attention from numerous publications, including the New York Times, Artforum, Art Review, and others. An accomplished author and editor, Catharine most recently edited the monograph ”American Qur’an” by Sandow Birk, published in November 2015 by W.W. Norton & Company. A member of the San Francisco Art Dealers Association since 1994, Catharine has served as a trustee and executive committee member for ZER01: The Art and Technology Network, Lick Wilmerding High School Alumni Board, Visual Aid, Recology, and SF Camerawork. In 2014, Catharine was awarded Arttable’s Northern California Chapter's Award of Service to the Visual Arts. In addition to programming exhibitions, Catharine also hosts fundraising and development events for non-profits and political campaigns.



ABOUT SANCHEZ ART CENTER: The mission of Sanchez Art Center is to create community through art. Sanchez Art Center was established in 1996 when artists and community members converted an old school into a multi-use arts complex that now includes 3 galleries, 19 art studios, an arts classroom, and the Mildred Owen Concert Hall. Sanchez Art Center offers exhibitions by established and emerging artists. We make art accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds by offering a variety of free exhibitions and lectures, affordable studio rentals, workshops and classes for teens and adults, and after-school art classes, summer camps, and in-school art classes for kids, as well as community art projects and opportunities.
