Butter Knife Carving Workshop- 9/16 by Melanie Abrantes

Designer Melanie Abrantes will lead students in hand carving their own wooden butter knife using traditional Japanese tools and techniques. The class will start with a discussion of different wood types, an explanation of the tools required, and an overview of the techniques used to cut wood. Once students have acquired a basic understanding, Melanie will lead them in carving butter knife, then designing and whittling the handle and blade. When the final design has been reached, students will sand and finish their butter knives with an all-natural finish. All tools will be provided to use during the workshop, with the option of purchasing the tools at a discounted rate to continue your carving practice at home!

This workshop will be on Saturday September 16th from 1-3pm at the LPP Workshop (855 Valencia Street). Light snacks and drinks will be provided.  Limited to 10 students. Each student will receive Melanie’s new book Carve! All workshops include 20% discount in the LPP shop the day of their workshop. 
If you need to cancel a class then it must be done 72 hours prior.  We only give class/store credit.  This is non-negotiable. Currently classes are 21+.
