For the 7th consecutive year the writing group Sunday Stories brings its reading series, "Brown People Don't Read?" to Lit Crawl, San Francisco's largest literary event.This event pushes boundaries and dispels the myth that brown people don't value the written word. We bring you voices of humor, rage, wonder, and introspection.Readers:Scott R. DuncanScott Russell Duncan is a Chicano writer with the whitest name in America. His unpublished novel The Ramona Diary of SRD is about Spanish California. He is assistant editor at Somos en escrito, The Latino Literary Online Magazine. Lisa D. GrayLisa reads, writes, and rants about the things that tick her off and amuse her. She follows trends and looks back at how the past affects our present. She lives and writes in the Bay Area. Her writing focuses on intersections of blackness, womanhood, and Americaness. She earned her... Read More ?Jenny IrizaryJenny Irizary is working on a memoir about growing up along the Russian River. Her work is published in Sick Lit, Squalorly, Snapping Twig, Communion, Atticus Review, and other journals.Blanca TorresBlanca Torres earned a Masters of Fine Arts in fiction from Mills College and is a founding member of Sunday Stories. She is finishing a short story collection and a memoir about her mother’s childhood in Mexico.Duane HortonDuane Horton is an MFA student in prose at Mills College and received his undergraduate degree at Allegheny College in English and Women Studies. He keeps Alice Walker, Octavia Butler, Toni Morrison, and Tananarive Due close to his pen as he writes.
