at Le Petit Trianon Theatre (see times)
Steinway Society – The Bay Area is proud to present highly regarded Russian pianist, composer and transcriptionist Vyacheslav Gryaznov in concert 2:30pm, Sunday, February 10 at San Jose’s Trianon Theatre. Winner of numerous prestigious competitions, Gryaznov proved immensely popular in his 2016 West Coast debut with Steinway Society, prompting an enthusiastic request that he be invited to return. Since then, he has gathered acclaim at Berlin Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall, among others, and his piano transcriptions have skyrocketed to the top 10 piano music list of Schott Publishing, a world leader in sheet music sales. A pre-concert lecture begins at 1:45pm and a Meet-the-Artist follows.

PROGRAM includes two transcriptions of Rachmaninoff by Vyacheslav Gryaznov:
· Rachmaninoff, Ten Preludes, Op. 23
· Rachmaninoff, Six moments musicaux, Op. 16

MORE INFO: In Fall, 2016 Vyachelav Gryaznov made his West Coast debut with Steinway Society, and since then his career has illuminated what Bay Area audiences discovered: he is an artist, composer, transcriptionist, musician, and teacher of first rank. He has performed to great acclaim throughout the U.S., Russia and Europe, including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. He has also accepted and completed Yale University’s invitation to fulfill the Artist Diploma program.

He now returns to San Jose, bringing his thoughtful and lustrous performances of two Rachmaninoff masterworks, the Ten Preludes and the Six Moments Musicaux.

“… Vyacheslav Gryaznov… is a brilliant pianist and composer. The virtuosity and inventiveness of his transcriptions fascinate and enthral.” Musical Life magazine

One of today’s rapidly ascending concert pianists and transcriptionists, Vyacheslav Gryaznov graduated with honors from Moscow Conservatory and is now a professor of piano there. Gryaznov is an artist of Moscow Philharmonic Society and a member its project, Key Stars of the 21st Century.

In 2014 Vyacheslav signed with Schott Music, a leading publisher of classical and contemporary music, where his piano music is now enthusiastically received and among the Schott’s top 10 best-selling. Gryaznov has released a CD on the Steinway & Sons label featuring his piano transcriptions of orchestral and chamber works by his countrymen Borodin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Glinka.

He is the composer of more than 30 concert arrangements and transcriptions. His works have been performed by Boris Berezovsky, Alexander Ghindin, Nikita Mndoyants, Tomoharu Ushida, Quartet Ebéne, the Messiaen-Quartet, the Moscow State Chamber Choir, the Moscow Philharmonic and State Symphony Orchestras, and by many other musicians. His works are heard in concert halls all over the world, and chosen for prestigious international music contests such as Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Competition. His transcriptions beautifully complement his performances, revealing his great art in transcription as an integral part of his creative life.
