Brett attended Berklee College of Music where he studied with guitarist Richie Hart. While there, he became heavily influenced by George Benson and Wes Montgomery. He also spent a year as a member of the Funk and Soul/P-Funk ensemble led by Lenny Stallworth (RH Factor member) - studying Blues, Jazz, Rock and numerous other genres with additional instructors including Livingston Taylor.
