Brain Stab

at Four Star Theatre - The 4 Star (music at 8pm / film at 9:30pm)
BRAIN STAB
(Premiere of the Debut Feature from Michael Cruz)

Brian, a struggling filmmaker and alcoholic, is determined to bring his dream slasher film to life. But as his substance use disorder takes over, his relationships crumble and his grip on reality deteriorates. Mentally breaking down during a film shoot, Brian descends into a hellish psychological nightmare war zone. To survive, he must confront his inner demon zombies--or be consumed by them. Most importantly, he must not allow the killer from his movie to stab his brain.

George Carpenter is a Los Angeles-based artist playing performance-driven rock n' roll pooling from a mystic-America water world mythos. The Clog genre-jumps through sinister, innocent, noisy and saccharine sounds, fueled by a reverence for Nico, Scott Walker, Stick Men With Rayguns, and White Zombie. He's been fortunate to play with the likes of Vern Rumsey (Unwound), Flipper with David Yow, V. Vale, Frankie Cosmos, Tonstartssbandht and More. He has performed up and down the western US, Canada, and central Mexico with the Clog and his previous Bay Area-based band, Fish Breath.

Slosh

Slosh is the creative collaboration of three San Francisco musicians: Michael Cruz, Marisela Guizar, and Evan Showalter. Cruz (ex Combo, Fish Breath) joined forces with Guizar and Showalter, both previously having played together in the no-wave band Blank Square, to create a beautiful anarchic cacophany of sound reminiscent of Clockcleaner, Flipper, and Total Abuse. Expect a chaotic and frenzied live performance to rattle your eardrums.
