Barefoot Chamber Concerts ("an enterprise noted for both its quality and informality" - San Francisco Classical Voice) presents really good music in the right acoustic and without the formality of most classical music events. In the first concert of Barefoot's regular season, the Farallon Recorder Quartet (Letitia Berlin, Frances Blaker, Louise Carslake and Miyo Aoki) will play "Boreas Blows: German Music by Senfl, Finck, Isaac, Hofhaimer, Buxtehude, Bach, Fux, and more."
The Farallon Quartet is well-known to Bay Area audiences, and travel extensively throughout the country and internationally. This new program mines the rich repertoire of the German high baroque, with occasional dips into the earlier German music that inspired it. In the lovely wooden acoustic of the parish hall of St. Mark's Church, this will be a rare and delightful evening. There will be snacks, of course, and the usual refreshments. Start the weekend right!
