Boots and the Kats is a funk and soul band that hails from the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally formed by guitarist Mark Ignatius and drummer Jon Farland after both had moved to the bay from Los Angeles and Boston, respectively. The soulful and funky original sound of the group is driven by the powerful voice of Azeeta Nikoui and has grown to include veteran bass player Lucas Goodbody and east bay’s own Andrew Dixon on saxophone and Sophie Powers on Trombone. Formed under the influences of James Brown, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Led Zeppelin, Hiatus Kaiyote, The Alabama Shakes, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, The Meters & Lettuce to name a few.
The Straight Ups
Established in 2011, The Straight Ups are shaped by their blue collar Bay Area roots, passion and grit. With an emphasis on high energy musicality and fat licks, they transcend genre and delicately fuse aspects of their eclectic backgrounds into their songs. Their influences range from: Zepp to Zapp, Queen to Rage Against the Machine. When shit sucks, they influence it to not suck.
Room For Dream
Art Pop Band from Oakland, CA, a fresh combination of 60s/70s style, sparkly psychedelic guitar, tight 3 part harmony, and progressive song structure, with just enough crunchy jazz chords. Songwriter Nicholas Lyon-Wright knowingly writes under the influence of The Beatles, Queen, Elliott Smith, Stevie Wonder, Yes, and The Free Design, to name a few.
