"San Francisco o glorious city of our hearts that has been tried and not found wanting. Go thou with like spirit to make the future thine." - Edward Robeson Taylor, 28th Mayor of San Francisco
Join local artist Jeremy Fish for the much-anticipated launch of his new book, O Glorious City: A Love Letter to San Francisco, which contains all 100 drawings Jeremy created in 100 days to celebrate the 100th birthday of San Francisco City Hall.
Built in 1915, San Francisco's City Hall is iconic. Gorgeous and stately, it symbolizes the great potential of our city and its inhabitants. In honor of its centennial in 2015, the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries invited artist Jeremy Fish to become City Hall's first-ever artist-in-residence and produce a project commemorating this moment in history.
Taking inspiration from the city as he does in almost all of his work, Fish's drawings in O Glorious City incorporate former mayors, cultural figures, iconic landmarks, architectural elements, and the neighborhoods of San Francisco.
Books will be available for sale at the event, and Jeremy Fish will be on hand to greet fans and sign books. As a thank you to the City and his fans, Fish will produce a limited edition bookmark to be given away with the first 100 books sold at the event.
