Bon Voyage Gala Concert and Silent Auction

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This summer the San Jose Youth Symphony (SJYS) will embark on its exciting international Concert Tour to Spain and Portugal. The Philharmonic Orchestra, made up of some of the most accomplished young musicians in the Bay Area, will be performing in five cities in Spain & Portugal, at some of Europe’s finest concert halls and venues, including the Fórum Luísa Todi near Lisbon, the Teatro Pedro Muniz Seca in Puerta de Santa Maria, the magnificent Palau de la Musica in Valencia, and Granada’s world-renowned International Music Festival. The San Jose community has the opportunity to hear the tour program and to support and bid them farewell at their Bon Voyage Gala Concert on Friday evening, June 19, 2015, at the School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. The program will open with Chabrier’s España and will conclude with the most popular of symphonies, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World. This concert will also feature the engaging and internationally renowned violinist, Max Zorin, who will perform Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole for Violin and Orchestra.

A Silent Auction & Wine Reception will be featured starting before the concert at 6:30 pm, during Intermission, and briefly after the concert, with all proceeds going to SJYS.

SJYS hosts an international tour every other year and strives to provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences and opportunities for its young musician members. In addition to the concerts presented, members will get a chance to experience local culture and tour major attractions, including Sevilla, Cadiz, the Alhambra Palace in Granada, the magnificent Puente Nuevo in Ronda, the Gran Via and Plaza Mayor in Madrid, and even enjoy a Flamenco lesson!
