Blue Morpheus New Owners' Celebration: The First Annual Funky FUNdraiser

Hi! We are the proud new parents of the art car, Blue Morpheus. This baby has been to the playa 13 times, and now, in our first year with her, we have just been accepted to bring her back for her 14th. We need a few things to make that happen, to subsidize our labor of love and this year's mutations - so for that reason and because we still need to celebrate our new ownership with our loved ones - we must throw a party!

We've hand-picked a team of fine, local sound selectors for a night of dancing, getting weird and getting down, all in the name of bringing this dream on wheels home again this year. Here is what she is going to look like when all is said and done after our build in August. Wanna help us get there? Buy a ticket, make a donation, put an item in the Silent Auction, donate supplies whatever or just give us a smile and a thank you because we are really really excited!
Every year to be accepted to the playa, the level of Mutation on these vehicles has to be high and bigger than the year before. We've worked out that we need $25 per attendee, but we didn't want to put it all in the ticket price. We figure an optional (but highly suggested) $15 min donation on top will be enough to get us there, but if you just want to come show your support through your dancing shoes, feel free to just buy a ticket. $15 if you wanna be like Red Bull and give us wiiiings. A little more about what this means to us
Building Blue Morpheus, much like its new home base the Organization (come see us for Iced Espresso Martinis Happy Hours on the playa), is essentially about building an open home. Homes can have walls, roofs and doors; the homes we are building at the Organization and on wheels with Blue Morpheus have none, physical or otherwise. Our home is a modern desert oasis, where, much like their traditional equivalents, nomads are always welcome and encouraged to stay.
We have collectively experienced the playa under most of its roughest conditions, where our survival often depended on the hospitality of those that shared their home with us. This legacy is embodied by Blue Morpheus, an open dwelling, both a home and a lighthouse: a space for anyone to step into, fall into, and step out of, full and fulfilled and with a clear bearing.
Its cocoon is an invitation to fellow burners to join for a ride or settle for the day, while its disco light and lanterns help enlighten visitors on their path and beyond.
This year is the year Blue Morpheus, after having offered a home to fellow burners for over a dozen burns, finds a new home for itself, we are celebrating this by transforming it once again while keeping as its creed a radical ritual of unconditional inclusiveness.
When a family builds a home it sets its own rituals; ours are radical in their inclusiveness and their continuous embrace of individual and group self-expressions. Our rituals are a proud and profound reflection of history, the history of those that preceded us, and yet they are shaped by the interactions in the here and the now.
We are incredibly excited and humbled to witness how our rituals have evolved through every interaction, and how this coming burn will continue to mold them and Blue Morpheus.
Some transparency: What we will be using the funds to subsidize for Burning Man 2017..
General maintenance on the vehicle (tires, alternator, etc.) that we gots to do every year
Subsidizes rent for where it liveswith the best caretaker ever all year round
New for 2017! ~ Very important safety modifications, especially getting up to the observation deck (a new ladder, side paneling on the top deck, fire extinguishers, etc.)
New for 2017! ~ A disco ball to hang out in front to facilitate le dancefloor and beatiful custom LED butterfly wings to complete the Morpheus transformation. Also we'll be making the car DJ-compatible with upgrades to the sound system on the top deck.
