Black Market Trust

SEE EVENT DETAILS
While Los Angeles based Black Market Trust is technically a pop/vocal jazz band, that label doesn't begin to cut it. BMT combines the sounds of the great American crooners with the romantic Eastern European gypsy fire of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt's Hot Club of France Quintet. These 5 globe-trotting world class musicians really sizzle. Taking their love of everything from Sinatra to Lennon/McCartney, and melding it with authentic gypsy jazz, has brought this band front and center on the biggest stages around the world.

Since the 2012 release of their all instrumental debut album "The Black Market Trust," a milestone in the genre of gypsy jazz, the band has gone on to record two more albums, maintain a busy touring schedule, and have their music featured on TV shows like the ABC television series "Happy Endings" and the Hulu original program "Casual." Their sophomore album "II" featured a Top Ten hit on the Adult Contemporary charts, a signature version of "Route 66."

BMT musical roots run deep, and their new album "Just One of Those Things" channels their Great American Songbook and European jazz inspirations, and will feature strongly on the Firehouse set list. The title track, the much-performed Cole Porter classic "Just One of Those Things," is fresh and optimistic as performed by the group. "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys is especially poignant. "Please Stay," a Black Market Trust original in the style of Jamaican Rocksteady, showcases the group's lyric writing ability and wide range.

PBS says: "...Virtuosic playing, beautiful harmonies, and fun interaction with the crowd."

The rapport BMT has built from their many live performances is a hallmark of the group's vibe, and they note that they continue to perform live as much as possible to get a chance to interact with their fans.
