Noted actor Bill Murray teams up with distinguished German cellist Jan Vogler to present a spirited evening of music and literature, for one night only. In this rare live appearance, Murray - as both singer and narrator - brings his charm and wit to songs by Foster, Gershwin, Mancini and Bernstein, as well as readings of classic American poetry and prose in dialogue with Vogler's singing Stradivari cello.
Murray and Vogler met during their travels and became friends in New York. Curious about each other's artistic world and interests, the actor and the cellist soon had the idea to work together on a project, a show that highlights the core of American values in literature and music. One that communicates the bridges artists have built between America and Europe. Twain, Hemingway, Whitman, Cooper, Bernstein, Gershwin and Foster are some of the strongest voices that influenced generations of humans in America and gave the world a picture of the charm, energy and creative force of the New World.
This year, Murray and Vogler celebrate the premiere of their show. The Hollywood star's love for classical music is young and his art of language boundless. All the more reason to look forward to a fascinating encounter between great music and great literature featuring two masters of their art.
Produced and directed by Bernhard Fleischer/BFMI. We would like to recognize the Harry and Carol Saal Family Fund for generously sponsoring Bill Murray and Jan Vogler.
