Big Ass Hillbilly Show: Triple Threat!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
THE BIG ASS HILLBILLY SHOW: Triple Threat!
3 bands / 3 Record Releases!
Featuring: The Earl Brothers + The New Thoreaus + Lonesome Lester Raww

THE EARL BROTHERS (CD Release Show)
Once in a lifetime one will come across that one stand-out band. One that gives you chills every time you listen to their music. A band you find yourself going out of your way to catch all of their live shows. A band whose logo you have tattooed on your arm or tramp stamp. A band you
promise to name your first born after. San Francisco's very own The Earl Brothers are that band. It's been ten plus years since they started working on a style that has become their unique trademark -- modern-day outlaw mountain hillbilly music. Sure that's a long name, but the Earls are worth every word.

THE NEW THOREAUS (CD Release Show)
Through and throw, the New Thoreaus are an indie-folk band with a bluegrass bent. They provide a "modern spin on old-timey folk and bluegrass," according to the East Bay Express. Formed in 2007, the band takes influences from The Band, The Decemberists, Bon Iver, Gillian Welch, The Grateful Dead, and Biz Markee? "The New Thoreaus are one of the few bands that can appeal to a crowd full of traditionalists AND folks who like a little something different. Think Tom Waits meets NOLA's Preservation Hall Jazz Band." -Mike Bond, The Bottleneck Cafe Radio Show.

LONESOME LESTER T. RAWW (CD Release Show)
It was a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon and the Pine Box Boys had just finished playing a friends funeral. While standing over his friends grave, Lester began pondering his friends life and her gruesome murder- and he started thinking about his own life and if there were more to it than darkness, sadness, and evil. As much as Lester loves writing and singing songs of murder, death, and mayhem, he knew there were happy and beautiful things out there to think about and sing about. And in that moment about a million beautiful thoughts rushed through Lester's head and then and there he decided to write less dark songs and sing more uplifting songs. Tonight Lester performs songs from his new CD on ukulele and kazoo.
