The parts of beauty that can feel degrading or the tears that materialize from most wretched joy are some of the ingredients that make up the “between” and are considered to be the binding agents of Beauty & Horror. This short film explores the moments in life that can be difficult to distinguish discomfort and suffering from pleasure; the lived experiences that show up in the shadows of terror only to reveal itself as a gift in disguise.
Leila Weefur and Aggregate Space Gallery present Between Beauty & Horror, a video installation exploring the violent, grotesque, and erotic elements of the Black experience. The film, presented as a diptych, uses imagery that engages the senses with the Blackberry fruit as a metaphor for Black being.
