Benjamin Britton: The Incandescent Sub-Present

SEE EVENT DETAILS
GRADUATE LECTURE SERIESBenjamin Britton: The Incandescent Sub-Present
Britton will talk about his paintings, which propose to destabilize our position in time and space within the landscape. Pivoting on the pleasure of looking, his work places us in one place and many, while dwelling in the complicated relationship between people and the ecological environment. He will also address how he thinks about using surfaces to represent the flutter between memory, cognition, sensation, and future intention.
Benjamin Britton was born in California and raised in Washington State. He received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts, NY, and his MFA in painting from UCLA. His work has been shown primarily at galleries in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. He is an assistant professor at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, and his visit is made possible in part by the Headlands Center for the Arts, where he is an artist-in-residence this summer.
