Artist and clinical psychologist Sharon Strong and curator Jacob Clark present an exhibition of masks at the Bridge Storage and ARTSpace main gallery from October 6th through the end of November.
Sharon Strong creates extraordinary masks from “life masks” combined with found objects and sculptural elements. Her art-making is a dynamic process—the scientific method at its most intuitive. Her Ph.D. in clinical psychology is from the United States International University in San Diego and she studied art with Bob Alderette and with Ning Hou at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Until 2010 she owned and operated her own gallery in Murphys, California. She has created art installations at the Burning Man festival and mounted exhibitions at Hourian Gallery in San Francisco, the California Center for Integral Studies, and at the Center for Creativity & Community in San Andreas, California.
“In early human communities, masks literally embodied spirits in nature and the power of deities and demons brought to life through ritual and story”, Ms. Strong commented. She continued, “I know this power. My masks tell my stories and the stories of my time. They reveal our gods and monsters.” To learn more about artist Sharon Strong, visit
