Ben Misterka is an American guitarist, bandleader, composer, and music educator. Currently based between San Francisco area and Shanghai, China, he maintains a busy schedule of performances, studio sessions, composing, and arranging music. Misterka is the founder of the psych-funk band"Collectivity", has worked as resident band director of the Shanghai venue "Shake", guitarist for African fusion group "RTM", and performer with several international pop, fusion, jazz, and rock acts. Collectivity recently performed at Shanghai Stadium supporting Larry Graham in 2017, Ulanchabu Stadium- Inner Mongolia, Top Clubs in San Francisco, Booshkabash Festival in Shanghai, and more. Misterka has worked with: Morris Hayes (Prince, Maceo Parker), Tan WeiWei, Yu Quan, The Voice of China and many others. He studied with Wayne Krantz, Fred Hersch and Doug Richards.

From the halcyon days of the so-called “Young Lions” era of the eighties till now, there have been a number of trumpeters who were heralded as “the next big thing” or “the second coming of…” but through all the hype, the New York-born, trumpeter, arranger, composer and bandleader David Weiss has been a light at the end of the jazz tunnel. Through his leadership of the masterful New Jazz Composers Octet and his own sextet, Weiss has shown his unfailing dedication to the illumination and expansion on the music of the marvelous sixties – from Freddie Hubbard and Miles Davis to the Blue Note catalog and beyond. With his new Point of Departure quintet, he takes an even greater leap into the abyss, further blurring styles and genres.
