Formed by the North Carolina native in 1994, Ben Folds Five was among the most subversively unique bands of the era -- essentially a guitar-less punk rock band with Folds and his raucous piano as the central focus. Since the band's breakup in 2000, Folds has led a highly successful solo career and collaborated with artists ranging from "Weird Al" Yankovic and Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls to writer Nick Hornby and actor William Shatner.
