Beginner Switch Tango 6 Wk Series: Ali Woolwich & Reeva Bradley

Project Tango/Cellspace Alternative Milonga presents: Beginner Switch Tango 6 Week Series: NOV/DEC 2017 Session with Ali Woolwich & Reeva Bradley
$90, NOV 8-DEC 20, 8:10-9:10pm each Wednesday for 6 weeks at SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street, SF
Each session is a one-hour class, followed by the DJ'd dance event (milonga) 9pm-midnight; admission to the milonga event after each class for 6 weeks is included in the price of registration. The series sequentially covers tango fundamentals Lead, Follow and Switch Roletrade vocabulary from the begining as well as Switch etiquette and musicality of Argentine Tango. No partner or prior experience necessary (though participants may find it helpful to attend a drop-in class or 2 prior to attending the series). No street shoes, no heels higher than 1 inch, smooth soles of leather or suede, or drug-store moleskin, laceup or ankle strap, no slipons, no boots. No Class NOV 22 Thanksgiving Week.
Register online or at the front desk beforehand by the first class NOV 8. If you miss the start of this series, you MAY be allowed to join starting the 2nd or 3rd week at the teachers’ discretion. Project Tango continues to offer a weekly drop-in Beginner class at the same time as this sequential series, weekly. There are a few volunteer registration spots (50% discount on registration): to request a volunteer discount spot or for other inquiries, contact Vanessa, our Volunteer Coordinator, at: [email protected].
VENUE ENTRY/PARKING: Please go down long driveway to the right of building to find Main Entrance. Security guard Frank is present at the street entrance to the driveway all night. Free parking in lot ACROSS the street after 7pm.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS:
Ali Woolwich has been a professional Modern/Contemporary Dancer and teacher for 30+ years, taking up Argentine Tango 10 years ago and teaching Switch Tango and Switch Fusion internationally since 2012. Ali has been Director of Humilityswim Dance Media (HDM) in San Francisco since 1999, producing weekly Class Series, Workshops, and dance conference events in Modern/Contemporary Partnering, performance techniques, dance-for-camera, and Social Dance Forms both locally and internationally for universities, studio professional dancers, teacher training programs, recreationalists and LGBT community organizations. Ali's teaching is informed by decades' training and practice in Release Techniques, Dance Conditioning for Movement Efficiency and Injury Prevention, yoga and massage. Reeva Bradley began their early foundation of strength and flexibility in dance with ballet and jazz. In 2009, they found Social Dance partner dancing through Argentine Tango and Blues. They were drawn to the partnered creativity, improvisation, and emotional expressiveness of both of these dances and continued study in both for 8 years. Reeva focuses on musicality in their classes, using the depth of their background as a musician. Since 2012 when they began teaching in their homebase of San Francisco, they have developed a teaching style that focuses on connection and communication in partnered movement.
