Bay Choral Guild Presents: Songs of Isaiah

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Our March program features the world premiere of Songs of Isaiah, composed by BCG Artistic Director Sanford Dole, the second in BCG's year-long series of commissioned works. The three-movement work sets texts from the Biblical book of Isaiah - "Surely it is God who saves me", "Seek the Lord while he wills to be found", and "Arise, shine, for your light has come". A string orchestra and a harp provide accompaniment for this upbeat composition.
Also music from the Baroque, J. S. Bach's Motet #1, "Singet den Herrn", and Giovanni Pergolesi's joyous "Magnificat", and exciting new music from English composers: Paul Mealor's lovely "Stabat Mater", and "Ave Maris Stella" by Cecilia McDowall.
